Police warn of man grabbing women, touching himself in Monument Valley Park

Colorado Springs police said they are investigating whether three incidents at Monument Valley Park are connected.

Police said that in March, a woman walking in the northern part of the park reported being grabbed. She said the man who grabbed her ran away when she turned to confront him.

Then, in mid-May, another woman reported being grabbed by a man while running in the park. She told police that she was able to break free from his grasp.

Police said that a short time later, another woman reported she had been walking in the park and was approached by a man who was touching himself inappropriately.

Police say the man in all three incidents is white, in his mid-20s to mid-30s, between 5-foot-6 and 6-feet tall, with a thin build. One of the women told police that the man has a large and pointy nose.

The incidents happened in a stretch of the park between Uintah and Fillmore streets, police said.

“We believe we’re able to determine what his intent is,” said Sgt. John Koch. “The details, we’re not releasing at this time. We do have an increased presence in the area.”

Kathy Brill walks through the park trails often and said she doesn’t fear for her safety.

“There are always other people around and I carry a whistle with me,” she said. “I feel like I’d be alright.”
