Organizer receives citations for illegal parade in Pueblo
Pueblo police have ticketed a woman after she held an illegal parade to celebrate Cinco De Mayo.
The parade happened on May 2 on Pueblo’s East Side. Janet Wilson, who is one of the organizers of the event, received the citations on May 13 for failing to obtain a parade permit and impeding traffic.
The City of Pueblo originally gave her a permit for the parade if barricades were put in place for safety.
When the organizers of the parade didn’t have barricades, the city revoked the permit, but that didn’t stop the organizers from having the parade anyway.
Police said the reason why it took so long to issue the citations is because they needed to collect enough evidence.
Wilson said even though she received the tickets, good memories were made at the parade.
“The parade, as far as I am concerned, was a success. Everyone had a good time and sadly that it came to this,” she said.
Wilson will go to court on June 9.
