CDOT worker killed near Monarch Pass

State Patrol said a state Department of Transportation worked died in an accident Friday.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. Friday on Highway 50 near Monarch Pass.

An 18-wheeler coming down the pass did not stop for a signal and went into the other lane, troopers said.

The 18-wheeler then hit two other vehicles and a dump truck. A CDOT worker driving the dump truck died, troopers said.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to Penrose Hospital.

State Patrol said this will be a complex accident investigation.
