The man police say stabbed an officer and was shot five times is incompetent to stand trial according to a psychiatric evaluation.
The Canon City Daily Record reports Hudson Taylor Clark is in Department of Human Services custody after his assessment was made available to the court Wednesday.
Clark’s family contacted police Dec. 6 saying he had left his Penrose home and was mentally disturbed.
Caon City Police Department Chief Paul Schultz says a police supply store clerk said the man pulled a knife on him and stole a gun holster.
Cpl. Andrew Sanders found Clark about 10 minutes later. Sanders sustained a stab wound and shot Clark five times.
Clark will be back in court Aug. 12 for a competency review hearing.
