EPSO: Boy, 11, faces attempted first degree murder charge for stabbing his mother

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says an 11-year-old boy is facing an attempted first degree murder charge for stabbing his mother at their home near Monument.

The sheriff’s office says the boy is being held at Spring Creek Youth Services.

Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing on Burning Bush Pointe at around 5:30 p.m. on May 1.

A sheriff’s office spokeswoman said the boy stabbed his mother multiple times and then either fell or jumped from a 3rd story window. She said he fell about 30 feet.

Mom and son were initially treated at separate Colorado Springs hospitals before the boy was transferred to a hospital in Denver.

No names or details about the circumstances that led up to the stabbing have been released.
