More Hail Damage in Northern Colorado Springs

An entire floor of an office building in northern Colorado Springs suffered major damage.

This is not what the third floor of the office building that holds Pikes Peak Internal Medicine usually looks like.

“We’ve never seen anything like this before,” said Dr. Corinne Laurance

The culprit – Thursday’s hail storm.

“Within less than 10 minutes our entire office suite, from every office tile, water was coming down like it was from a hose,” said Laurance.

It not only impacted the employees at Pikes Peak Internal Medicine, but other people who rent out these suites.

Laurance said, “people came running into our suite and yelling about what was happening down the hall.”

Immediate action had to be taken to provide shelter and protect records.

“We ran to the front office and tried to salvage the medical charts. We quickly put them in the cabinetry to try to keep them from getting wet,” said Laurance.

Fate spared their patients.

“We had just had our last patient leave our suite, when the roof tiles in (the) corner came crashing down on the patient chairs,” said Laurance.

With Pikes Peak Internal Medicine unable to see patients anytime soon, the big question is about the next step.

When will they be able to see patients again?

For now, another doctor is picking up their appointments while they look for a temporary home.

“We’re seeking office space,” said Laurance.

And they’re hoping there are no more surprises from the clouds anytime soon.

A representative from the property management company told us that they are holding weekly meetings with the tenants to update them on the repairs.
