Dog drowns in swollen creek

The Colorado Springs Fire Department says a dog drowned at Bear Creek Dog Park Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the creek for a water rescue at around 4 p.m. There was a report of a woman and a dog caught in the creek, which is still flowing high and fast because of recent rainfall.

The fire department says the woman was able to get out of the water, but that the dog did not survive.

Firefighters warn that area creeks are still high and that it doesn’t take much water to sweep a person or a pet away.
