Role reversal on Mother’s Day at Pueblo church
Mother’s Day is usually a day for people to buy flowers and cards for the their moms, but a few men in Pueblo wanted to take it a step further to show how much they love their moms and the women in their lives.
On any other day, moms would be in the kitchen getting breakfast ready for their families, but on this occasion, the men are taking care of the motherly duties of setting up tables and cooking breakfast at St. Mary Help of Christian Church.
“It’s hard, I’m glad I don’t have to do this every day,” Mikhail Garcia said. He said he got to the church at about six Sunday morning to prepare breakfast.
The breakfast has been going on for more than 60 years at the church and for the mothers, it’s something they look forward to every year.
“We want more days like this,” grandmother Marie Mutz said.
As for how the breakfast was, the mothers at the event said it tasted good and it was made with love.
Even though the men got a break from cooking and setting up tables, they still had to take the trash out and clean the dishes.
More than 100 women were served in the Mother’s Day breakfast.
