Group plans to save Victorian homes from destruction

A group in Pueblo says two Victorian homes in Pueblo’s Southside are historical and it wants to save them from demolition.

The Pueblo Community Health Center bought the homes in March.

The CEO of the health center said he wants to expand the property to make room for more parking spots to make it more convenient for patients.

Historic Pueblo Inc. wants to preserve the homes. It said the old Victorian homes are part of the neighborhood just like the health center.

“As we tear these down, as it has been done in the past on the north side, we lose that integrity and we can’t get it back. You can build anything new, you can’t bring back history,” Laurel Campbell said, who is representative of Historic Pueblo Inc.

The group started a petition to save the homes.

The health center hopes to start construction by fall.
