Businesses in Cascade are watching Fountain Creek

The rain continued Tuesday in Southern Colorado.

The roads have been a major concern during this storm, especially Highway 24.

Highway 24 is wet, but it’s not closed. Fountain Creek runs in the median of the highway as it makes it’s way from Woodland Park and Cascade towards Monument Creek in Colorado Springs.

It’s running high in most areas but especially where Camp Creek meets it near 31st Street on the west side of Colorado Springs.

While the creek is running high, not everyone minds the rain that has fallen.

“It eliminates fire danger, it makes things green. Everything smells good and it makes the flowers grow,” said Phyllis Overson of Cascade.

We also talked to James Blythe from the Wines of Colorado. He said that they have had water come up out of the creek bed last summer, but quick thinking saved the restaurant from any major damage.

Genny Parliament from the Winery at Pikes Peak told us that she and her family have a plan in case the creek does rise and the road is closed.
