Excitement over the new royal baby in Old Colorado City

It’s official: The newest addition to the family of the duke and duchess of Cambridge is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

The baby was born on Saturday morning, but William and Kate followed tradition and got the queen’s approval for the name before announcing the name to the public on Monday.

Excitement over the birth stretches well beyond Britain.

On this side of the pond, Willy’s Emporium and Tea Room, in Old Colorado City, had a sign out to announce the arrival of the princess.

The attention on her and all things royal is like a taste of home for the people at the shop.

“When you’re in England, you’re just engrossed in it because it’s everywhere – in the newspapers, on TV. When you’re overseas to see this much excitement and interest is incredible,” said Peter Holdman, the owner of Willy’s.

The baby is fourth in line to the British throne and weighed in at more than 8 pounds.
