Former Adams County deputy acquitted of child sex charge

A former Adams County sheriff’s deputy who was fired after being arrested for sexually assaulting a child has been acquitted.

The Denver Post reports that 37-year-old Henry Ford II was acquitted Thursday of four charges including sexual assault on a child by a person in position of trust for a victim under the age of 15, sexual assault as a pattern of abuse and one count of incest.

The jury took five hours to deliberate after the three-day trial.

Ford’s attorney said the acquittal can be attributed to the lack of physical evidence and the alleged victim’s credibility. He said the child had made similar allegations in the past and admitted they were fabricated.

Ford, an eight-year veteran of the Adams County Sheriff’s department, was arrested in April 2014.
