Group wants to improve Pueblo’s health

A group in Pueblo wants to make the county the healthiest county in Colorado, but it will have a lot of work to do.

According to a study done by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson, it ranks Pueblo County 57th out 60 counties in Colorado when it comes to health behavior. This includes smoking and obesity.

The Pueblo Triple Aim Coalition wants to change that by showing people how to live a healthier lifestyle, improving patient experience of care and making health care affordable.

Matt Guy, who is the managing director, said in order to be the best, it will take baby steps.

“It’s the solvable things first. Things that we know we can have the biggest impact on. That’s why teen pregnancy, we know we can have an impact on,” he said.

More than 40 organizations help the coalition.
