Rollover crash in church parking lot

church volunteer — narrowly escapse serious injury .. after her car plummets 15 feet through a fence and lands upside down in a parking lot. it happened around seven thirty this morning behind the calvary worship center church. that’s on the west side.. near king street and north 30th street — near old colorado city. krdo newschannel 13’s zach pagano is learning more about the scary crash. just before the 8 o’clock service at calvary worship center the parking lot became the center of attention. It appears it was parked in a parking spot behind this building and. she accidentally put the vehicle in drive instead of reverse and drove through the metal fence and then off an suv nose- diving with a church volunteer still inside. We called the emergency response team. They got out here quick and in a hurry. Police say the driver buckled her seatbelt before falling 15 feet, rolling the car on its roof. Police say that seatbelt saved her life. Because it rolled upside down, there’s no airbag above you. So the seatbelt actually kept her in her seat and prevented her from possibly going out the window and it kept her where she was supposed to be. it took just moments for firefighters to get the driver out of the car and to the hospital. church members were just as fast to offer support. It goes without saying that we did not even waste time with the praying. It started as soon as this thing happened. That’s just the way this church is. We believe in prayer. in colorado springs, zach pagano, krdo newschannel 13. we’re told the driver is in her thirties. she was able to stand on her own after getting out of the s-u-v… and was released from the hospital this morning. also new at
