Injured Denver officer to throw 1st pitch at Rockies opener

A Denver police officer hit by a car while protecting student protesters in December will throw the first pitch at the Colorado Rockies’ home opener.

John Adsit will be joined on the mound by his wife and four children as the Rockies take on the Chicago Cubs Friday afternoon.

He was critically injured after a driver who apparently suffered a seizure crashed into him and other officers as they were monitoring a high school protest over police killings. He was hospitalized for over two months.

Rockies lefty Tyler Matzek will face Travis Wood at a sold-out Coors Field.
