A giant brain with an important message

It’s one of the leading causes of death in the U.S., and a hospital in Pueblo wants to bring awareness to it.

St. Mary Corwin Medical Center said stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the U.S. and the leading cause of disability.

The medical center brought out its Mega Brain display at the Runyon Sports Complex.

People can walk through the giant brain model which shows the different brain injuries.

Nurse Ashley Trujillo said the purpose of the brain is to create awareness about stroke.

“It’s very eye-catching so we like to get people over, and it also has the different types of strokes on the brain so we can show people how it works,” she said.

Trujillo also said Pueblo County doubles the state average when it comes to stroke.
