UPDATE: Members of Springs family assaulted during early morning home invasion
Colorado Springs Police say four burglars forced their way into a southeast side home Monday morning (4/6/15).
The crime happened in the 3200 block of South Academy Boulevard at around 4:30 a.m.
Police say the robbers held the family at gunpoint.
“I never thought I would have gone through this with my family,” said one victim. “I can’t believe it myself, I still go through the moment.”
The woman asked KRDO NewsChannel 13 to not identify her because she feared her attackers would strike again.
She said she had arrived home from work shortly before the men kicked in her door.
“I was sitting on the couch watching TV when I heard a big bang and two men were already on top of me, guns pointing at my head, face down on the couch and one guy was punching my husband,” said the woman.
She said they punched her paraplegic husband and threw him from his wheelchair. Next, she said they went into her 9-year-old daughter’s bedroom and woke her up with a gun to her head. After, the victim said the men went into her 12-year-old son’s room and punched him in the face. They also pistol-whipped her.
The victim said the men took her and her children into a back bedroom while they went through the house. The robbers took cash and a cellphone.
“It’s scary, there are so many things going through your head at that time. But at the same time, you can’t do nothing with four men in your house with guns,” said the woman.
The victims were not seriously injured.
The woman thinks her attacker knew her and her husband. She said her attackers made sure that she never saw their eyes. She also said when they walked in, they demanded “the money” which makes her think they knew how much cash she was carrying after work.
“I am frightened by everybody, I think everyone is watching me,” said the woman.
The robbers were dressed in all black, wearing bandanas over their faces and black gloves.
All four were men, 5’7″ to 5’10” tall and weighing 150 to 170 pounds.
No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.
