Pueblo begins monthlong effort to patch potholes
Driving in Pueblo should get a little bit smoother this week.
On Monday, the city began a monthlong effort to repair potholes. City Manager Sam Azad said about 50 potholes were patched on Monday and the effort will ramp up once the city receives its hot asphalt mix. Until then, crews are using cold asphalt to plug the holes.
KRDO NewsChannel 13 followed two city employees as they patched potholes behind the state fairgrounds on Small Avenue and then went to North Elizabeth Street.
“It’s tearing up my car,” said Love Storey, a Pueblo driver. “It seems like I hit every pothole in town. Like every day.”
“I hope they hurry up and get on it a little bit quicker than they say they’re gonna do it because the alignment gets bad on my car and it’s hard,” said Jimmy LeDoux, who lives in Pueblo.
City spokeswoman Debra Hill said drivers are encouraged to call in and report potholes for city crews to fix. As of last week, the city had received about 200 calls. The public can call 719-553-2295 to report specific potholes.
Hill said the city’s first priority is to fix potholes north of the Arkansas River because the poor soil conditions have worsened the pavement.
