Couple Tries to Escape Police by Pulling Fire Alarm at Springs Hotel
Two people wanted on felony warrants, try to escape the police by pulling a fire alarm at a Colorado Springs Hotel.
It happened at the MCM Elegante Suites on N. Academy Blvd. around 7:30 Saturday (04/04/15) morning.
CSPD says 26-year-old Alexis P. Celona and 24-year-old Michael T. Muehlbauer were wanted on several felony warrants from Colorado Springs and other jurisdictions.
One suspect made daily cash (rent) payments totaling more than $20,000 at the hotel. Officers tried to contact the suspects several times.
Police say Celona and Muehlbauer barricaded themselves in the third floor hotel room and set off the fire alarm. Water poured out from the ceiling and flooded the room and several adjacent rooms. CSFD responded as well, and had to shut down the electricity because of the amount of water.
Muehlbauer eventually exited the room complaining of hypotherma.
Fire crews eventually turned off the sprinkler system and Celona, along with a German Shepard were removed from the room.
The water depth caused a toilet to be removed by CSFD to allow water to drain from the hotel room.
Both suspects face charges for their original warrants and for tampering with the hotel’s fire suppression system and endangering nearby guests.
