Forecasters warn of high fire danger in parts of southern Colorado today

A Red Flag Warning will begin at noon for a large chunk of south-central Colorado.

The warning includes Pueblo, Walsenburg, Trinidad, Fowler and La Junta. It does not include Colorado Springs.

A red flag warning is issued when warm temperatures, gusty winds and low humidity combine to create dangerously high fire danger. Fires can start easily and grow explosively in such conditions.

Extreme caution is urged until the fire weather conditions improve.
