Family shares story on World Autism Awareness Day
People worldwide are shining a light on autism, on World Autism Awareness Day. The day kicks off Autism Awareness Month.
According to Autism Speaks, one in 68 people in the US have autism.
Nicole Chappell’s son was diagnosed when he was three. He’s now eleven. She said there are many more resources now than there were then. But she said awareness is still needed.
“These kids are capable,” she said. “They deserve a chance. They’re willing to work if you meet them where they’re at.”
