Woman who lost unborn baby in attack thanks supporters

An expectant mother who lost her unborn baby after it was cut from her belly by a stranger is thanking those who have been thinking about and praying for her.

Michelle Wilkins posted a message late Sunday on the website where people have been donating money for her recovery, her first public comments since the March 18 attack in Longmont.

She said people’s prayers and positive thoughts have “been deeply felt” and helped her healing. She said her daughter, named Aurora, is “a light being now, nothing but ethereal joy and love.”

Wilkins said she can tell she has a long physical and emotional recovery ahead of her.

Thirty-four-year-old Dynel Lane was charged Friday with attempted first-degree murder, assault and unlawful termination of a pregnancy in the attack.
