The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office reports that a homeowner in Ellicott has been charged with 4th Degree Arson following a grass fire began Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters report that the fire is 100 percent contained.

The sheriff’s office says the fire burned about 78 acres and started at the 21000 block of Jones Road.

There were mandatory evacuations in place earlier Saturday evening, but all residents were later allowed to return to their properties.
