Vandals tag several locations in Woodland Park with anti-police and racist graffiti

Several locations in Woodland Park were targeted by vandals overnight, including a VFW post and the Meadow Wood Sports Complex. Private properties were also damaged

The graffiti contained anti-police and racist messages.

At Meadow Wood, crews cleaned up what they could at the hockey rink, but the damage is etched into the glass and it needs to be replaced.

Carol Kenney with the VFW says he’s not sure why his building was a target. “They don’t like cops. Well, cops don’t have a thing to do with it,” Kenney said.

Miles DeYoung, deputy chief of the Woodland Park Police Department told KRDO NewsChannel 13 the vandalism was a big deal in the small city.

“We don’t have stuff like this happen very often so we’re trying to get this cleaned up and get back to normal as quickly as we can and hopefully this isn’t going to be a recurring problem,” DeYoung said.

Police say the vandals did at least $3,000 worth of damage. They say they have two suspects they are looking for, but that they are interviewing more people before releasing a description.
