Colorado may give up on changing edible pot

Colorado may throw a white flag on one of its toughest marijuana problems to emerge in the new market – making sure that edible pot products can’t be confused with regular foods.

A bill up for its first vote Wednesday would repeal a 2014 Colorado requirement requiring pot foods to have a distinct look when out of the packaging.

The suggestion has drawn howls of protest from a parents’ group that called for the change. The sponsor of the bill says he’ll change the proposal to revive the requirement for some foods. But Sen. Owen Hill says pot regulators need to allow for exceptions for items that aren’t easily marked, such as granola.
