Murder trial begins Monday in Otero County

The two-week trial for a Canon City man accused of murdering a funeral director in 2012 is scheduled to begin Monday in Otero County.

Anthony Wright was arrested in 2013 and charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

The Canon City Daily Record reports 77-year-old Byron Griffy, a longtime school board member and funeral director in the Arkansas Valley, was found shot to death in his Fowler home on Oct. 12, 2012.

Authorities say Wright knew Griffy through the funeral home business.
