Teens cited in X Games drinking, pot sting face consequences

Dozens of teens and young adults caught in an underage drinking and marijuana sting at the X Games in Aspen are facing the legal consequences.

The Aspen Daily News reports that an unprecedented operation by Colorado Department of Revenue agents combined with actions by local police led to the issuance of 126 tickets during January’s event, more than double the number in 2014.

The first batch of defendants, some with their parents, appeared in court Tuesday. Some came from as far away as Montana, New Mexico and California.

Assistant District Attorney Scott Turner told them that pleading guilty would allow them a chance to have the case dismissed- and not mentioned on job or college applications – if they stayed out of trouble for 90 days and completed an online course.
