Peterson AFB gate reopens after security concern addressed
The east gate at Peterson Air Force Base was closed Wednesday morning because of a “precautionary security measure.”
Around 6:40 a.m., a commercial vehicle was undergoing a normal inspection when something prompted security forces to take more advanced measures.
Base emergency responders and investigating officials responded to the scene.
A spokeswoman said specifics could not be discussed because of Department of Defense policy.
An update released by Peterson at 9:30 a.m. indicated that investigators were searching for some sort of residue on the vehicle and that a second search found no residue.
The gate reopened at around 9 a.m. and traffic is now flowing normally.
