Pueblo couple celebrates 70 years of marriage

Their love has survived the test of time and on Sunday, people celebrated it.

James, 94, and Beverly Mussett, 91, have been married for 70 years. They met in the Army more than 70 years ago.

Beverly was an ammunitions packer and James was her supervisor.

They were married in Martinez, California in 1945.

Before moving to Pueblo, they lived in Buena Vista.

The Mussetts said their favorite memories together were going hunting and fishing. James said when they went to Michigan for a fishing trip, he was shocked when his wife caught a bigger fish than what he caught.

The couple’s family and the University Park Care Center celebrated their wedding anniversary with a small get-together for lunch.

Beverly said there is a simple solution to making a marriage last a long time.

“There is no secret, just don’t argue back and forth all the time,” she said.

The couple hopes their marriage can last another 70 years.
