Police activity closes street in east side neighborhood

A neighborhood street was closed while police tried to talk a man out of a home Monday afternoon.

Dixon Way was closed in the area of Clemson Dr. The neighborhood is located northwest of Palmer Park and Academy.

Police say they went to the home to check on a man after receiving a call from his roommates who said he was depressed and had locked himself in his room. They said they were worried he had a weapon.

The man was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation. Police say he was not wanted.

The man’s name was not released.
