Suspect dead in Moffat shooting; deputy, game officer unhurt

Authorities say one suspect is dead and another is in custody after a shooting involving a Moffat County sheriff’s deputy and a state Parks and Wildlife manager.

Sheriff KC Hume said Tuesday neither the deputy nor the wildlife official was injured in the shooting, which occurred Monday near the town of Dinosaur in northwestern Colorado.

No names or other details have been released. Authorities say no other suspects were believed to be involved.

The shooting took place about 85 miles north of Grand Junction and 10 miles from the Utah border. It was first reported by the Craig Daily Press.

Parks and Wildlife spokesman Todd Hartman referred questions to the district attorney for Moffat County. DA’s spokeswoman Donna Zulian said the district’s critical incident team was investigating.
