Colorado Springs man arrested, accused of attempted assault involving hatchet

Colorado Springs police arrested a man accused of trying to assault another man with a hatchet.

Police were called Monday afternoon to the 1000 block of Arch Street to investigate a disturbance. They say 39-year-old Peter Wegner went to the home, and began arguing with a man. During the argument, police say Wegner tried to strike the man twice with a hatchet, but, the man was able to avoid being hit. The man defended himself by striking Wegner, causing Wegner to fall to the ground and hit his head.

Wegner was arrested and faces charges of Attempted First-Degree Assault and Felony Menacing.
