Homeowner arrested for firing blank round outside home

Colorado Springs police arrested a man at his home after police said he fired a blank round at people in cars outside his home.

Police responded to a call of shots fired on Monica Drive West shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday. Police said both the homeowner and a group on the street called police.

Police questioned the homeowner, 33-year-old Damien Heitzer, and later arrested him. Police said he told officers he saw a drug deal outside his home and dealt with the issue himself because he said it’s a problem in the neighborhood. He got in an argument with the group outside and then police said he fired the blank round.

Police have impounded the cars parked in the street and plan to search them.

Police who patrol the area said drug deals has not been an issue on the street in the past and neighbors questioned echoed similar thoughts.
