Fort Carson female soldier advances to Ranger training

An Apache helicopter pilot from Colorado’s Fort Carson has a chance to become one of the first female Army Rangers.

The Army says that an unidentified first lieutenant from the post was the only one of 17 women to successfully complete the second gender-integrated Ranger Training Assessment Course, which ended last week. She can now participate in the first integrated full Ranger training in April, a grueling two-month combat school that is considered one of the first steps into the military special operations field.

Five women who completed the first integrated training assessment course are also eligible to participate in the Ranger training at Fort Benning, Georgia starting April 20.
