Family is OK after truck crashes into Security-Widefield home
Colorado State Troopers say a blue Chevrolet Pickuptruck came to rest partially inside a family’s living room around 3 a.m. Sunday.
The family was inside the home at the time, no one was hurt. The driver, a 22-year-old man from Colorado Springs, is being investigated for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The crash occurred in the 4800 block of Sebring Drive, in Security-Widefield. Troopers said the truck was traveling eastbound on Maribou Way when it ran off the end of the T-intersection of Sebring Drive. The truck caused significant damage to the house.
The name of the driver and two passengers are not being released at this time. The Colorado State Patrol is continuing its investigation of the crash.
The homeowner, who preferred to remain anonymous, said he was sleeping on a sofa in the living room when the truck entered. He said he and his family will stay with relatives while the home is repaired.
“My husband and I were sleeping downstairs and my mother was in her room,” Desiree Wagner, a next-door neighbor, said. “She heard what she thought was a bad windstorm, and she heard something hit the house.”
The Colorado State Patrol admonishes drivers to not drink and drive, andasks drivers to continue to report drunk or aggressive drivers using *CSP (*277) when it safe for them to do so.
