Fire destroys at least one home in Chipita Park

Two people escaped a burning home in Chipita Park Thursday night.

Firefighters said it happened around 9 p.m. in the 9400 block of Mohawk Trail in Chipita Park.

Two people were inside the home at the time, but got out safely, firefighters said. Witnesses told KRDO Newschannel13 that another home and several trees in the area also started on fire. But firefighters will not be able to confirm that until morning.

The one home that started in fire is a total loss, firefighters said.
