Lockdown lifted at Palmer High School

Palmer High School in Colorado Springs is no longer on lockdown.

The school was briefly locked down just before noon Wednesday.

Police say a group of students got into a fight at the intersection of N. Wahsatch and St. Vrain. They say staff at the nearby Community Prep School broke the fight up, but that it picked back up again in the 300 block of N. Wahsatch.

Police say a Community Prep student brandished what appeared to be a handgun before getting into a car and leaving the area.

Palmer High School, which is nearby, was locked down.

The car the teen left in was pulled over at Wahsatch and Bijou. The people in the car were detained. Police say an air soft 9mm replica pellet gun was also recovered.

A 16-year-old was taken into custody and faces a charge for felony menacing and interference with staff and faculty.
