Drivers are put to the test during winter storm in southern Colorado

Mother Nature showed her wrath in southern Colorado Saturday.

People driving through Pueblo on I-25 had to deal with slippery, snowy and windy conditions making it difficult to keep their vehicles between the lines.

Further down the interstate, drivers were going through heavy fog near the Colorado City and Rye exit.

And near Walsenburg, drivers encountered giant snowflakes that turned the city into a snow globe.

Zak Kay was driving on the interstate hauling a vehicle. He said it was a bad night to be on the roads.

“It’s been pretty rough coming up here. The fog came in (so) you (could) hardly see about five feet in front of the vehicle with a lot of slush coming in. Just up the road, the snow was coming down. The roads are getting pretty slick. It’s kind of pushing the Jeep off to the side of the road,” he said.

CDOT said it has 20-25 plows out tonight in Pueblo County with drivers working 12-hour shifts to keep the roads clear.
