Student pantry celebrates first anniversary at Pueblo Community College
It has been feeding hungry students at Pueblo Community College and people celebrated its first anniversary Thursday night.
The Panther Pantry at the college opened to feed students who were in need. It has partnered with Care and Share, along with other businesses and organizations, to fill the pantry.
In one year, the pantry has fed more than a 1,000 students and has spent more than $5,000 collecting more than 25,000 pounds of food.
“It really has helped with a lot of the student body because they have families and other priorities and sometimes with coming to college you’re not always able to afford all the necessities that you would have if you had a full-time job,” Levi Ropp said. He is one of the founders of the pantry.
The pantry is only open to students with a valid student ID card.
