CSU-Pueblo helps a former professor
A former professor from CSU-Pueblo is receiving help from the university.
Charles Ortega was a music professor at the university.
He was involved in a single vehicle rollover in Monument last month. Colorado State Patrol said he wasn’t wearing a seat belt and went through the windshield. He suffered a broken pelvis, a broken right arm, broken ribs and a traumatic brain injury.
Ortega is still in the ICU at Penrose-St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs.
The music department at CSU-Pueblo wanted to help him by having a concert where the proceeds went to paying his medical bills.
David Volk is an associate professor at the university. He said Ortega means a lot to CSU-Pueblo.
“He is the type of person that instantly befriends everyone. The impact he has had in students lives has been immediate and just bringing quality instruction to tuba and euphonium to our music family,” he said.
The event raised more than $600.
