A Pueblo couple has a deja vu dance a day before Valentine’s Day

It’s the day before Valentine’s Day and a couple in Pueblo decided to celebrate the occasion by doing something that started their love.

Ernie and Dolores Charlifue have been together for 57 years.

“It’s work. It’s not easy. It’s a lot of give and take,” Dolores said.

Their relationship all started with a simple question.

“She was very charming. I asked her to dance,” Ernie said.

Ernie and Dolores joined other couples in the Senior Resource Development Agency’s Valentine’s Day social.

“They come here. They partake in the refreshments, we have door prizes we have a DJ for them, it gives them a place to dance and socialize with their friends and celebrate a holiday,” said organizer Bernice Martinez.

As for Dolores and Ernie, they hope to be dancing for the next 57 years, just like how their relationship started.

The SRDA has socials every month to bring the senior citizen community together in Pueblo.
