Deadline approaches for health insurance sign-ups

The deadline is approaching to sign up for health care without facing a tax penalty.

Sunday is the last day to sign up for coverage under the Affordable Care Act.

“We went with Connect for Health Colorado last year,” Colorado Springs resident Ingrid Tanner said. “The website was hard to use. I had a lot of problems with it and ended up having to call them and talk to a rep on the phone to go through the program.”

Ingrid said she’s shopping around for more options this year.

“I’ve talked to other people who have already been through this, and I’ve gotten more numbers and networked,” she said.

Anyone who does not enroll for insurance by the end of open enrollment can face a tax penalty.

Insurance shopping hasn’t been easy for everyone.

“What we’re finding is, for us anyway, that we’re going to be paying a lot more for our insurance than we were in a group plan, so it’s a little stressful,” Colorado Springs resident Mary Arnold said.

Connect for Health Colorado reported 128,000 enrollments so far in 2015.
