Nice fall weather extends pothole work in Colorado Springs
Our nice fall weather is giving workers more time to fill potholes in Colorado Springs.
Trax Construction was doing pothole repair Wednesday on the south end of 8th Street. The city hired Trax this spring to use $2 million in extra money for pothole repair.
Trax was supposed to be finished at the end of September but will now keep working until the end of November.
“We had to account for some weather delays early in the summer and we’re making up time as we speak, with the nice weather that we’ve had,” said Corey Farkas, manager of the city’s Streets Division.
“But some of the weather delays put you behind just a little bit,” he said. “There’s still a lot that needs to be done, but I think people will notice a difference.”
Farkas said the work done by Trax went so well, the city hopes to use a private contractor again next year if money is available.
