Nonprofit group receives big boost in funding

An organization in Pueblo received a huge boost in funding Wednesday.

POSADA, a group that helps the homeless in Pueblo, received a $50,000 grant from the Daniels Fund Grant, a program that helps other nonprofits.

This comes after POSADA served close to 4,000 homeless people in 2014, that’s up 54 percent from 2013.

Group coordinator Christina Trujillo said that money is going toward keeping the doors open at POSADA.

“Getting these grants help us with operations in order to pay the mortgage and utilities, it is very substantial for us,” she said.

POSADA will also use the money to provide housing and support services for the homeless population.
