Update: Man arrested after standoff with Pueblo police

A man is in custody after an hours-long standoff with Pueblo police.

It started around 7:30 p.m. Monday in the 2200 block of Spruce Street, just west of I-25.

Police say two officers tried to serve an arrest warrant on 30-year-old Danny Dominguez.

Police say Dominguez resisted, and that’s when officers used a Taser on him. But officers say the Taser had no effect, and Dominguez began fighting with the officers, eventually pulling a large butcher knife and running from the home.

Officers later caught up with Dominguez in a nearby backyard, where the fight continued, with the one of the officers eventually being grazed in the arm by the knife. Dominguez then managed to run back to the house, where he locked himself inside.

The SWAT team was called in while police worked to have a judge sign an arrest warrant and search warrant.

Once the warrants were signed, police say they broke through the front door, and Dominguez eventually walked outside and was taken into custody.

He was transported to the hospital for evaluation and then taken to the Pueblo County Detention Center.

Dominguez was booked on a charge of first-degree assault on a peace officer, menacing, resisting arrest and his two warrants for failure to appear.
