Positively Pueblo: Generous gesture helps woman after rock throwing teens damage her car

Pueblo Police say a man stepped up to help someone else in need, even though he had been a victim himself.

As KRDO NewsChannel 13 previously reported, more than 20 vehicles were damaged on the evening of January 27, 2015 by rocks that were thrown at cars driving on I-25 near Abriendo.

One of the victims, John Grantham, was touched by the story of a fellow victim who was unable to pay the deductible to get her car fixed.

Grantham insisted on helping, so Officer Ballas arranged a meeting in the lobby of police headquarters.

During the meeting, Grantham presented Shelbie Lawson with a check for $1,000 so that she could get her car fixed.

Grantham said he wanted to give her the money so that she wouldn’t have to deal with the additional stress.

Lawson said Grantham’s generosity could not have come at a better time as her family was dealing with unexpected medical costs.
