Colorado may lower the bar for high school graduation

Colorado education officials are considering rolling back guidelines for high school graduation by lowering the bar in some cases and eliminating some science and social studies requirements.

An advisory board wants to keep minimum scores on ACT and SAT college-entrance exams but reduce scores on other measures.

Officials say they want to eliminate conflicting graduation requirements at 178 school districts and replace old systems of counting credit hours with better measures of achievement.
