Teen acquitted of killing llama found in Trinidad
A teenager accused of killing a llama has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
District Attorney Frank Ruybalid, of the Third Judicial District, said the teen accused of animal cruelty faced a jury last week. During the trial, the defense acknowledged that the teen shot the llama with a bow and arrow — and then cut its throat.
According to Ruybalid, the defense argued the teen thought the llama was a danger to the public. The teen was then acquitted.
A llama was spotted on the Trinidad State Junior College campus last April and found dead outside of town.
The llama’s remains were found near Atchison Canyon, according to the Trinidad Police Department.
