Pueblo man accused of trying to kill his roommate
The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office says a man was stabbed in the neck by his roommate after they pulled off of I-25 to smoke marijuana.
The incident happened Saturday morning (1/31/15) near the railroad tracks off of I-25 near the Purcell Blvd. exit.
Investigators say Jacob Janke, 20, and Austin Tanner, 18, were driving back to Pueblo after spending Friday night in Colorado Springs.
The sheriff’s office says the men pulled off of the highway to smoke marijuana and were standing outside of the car when, without provocation, Janke stabbed Tanner in the neck.
The sheriff’s office says that as Tanner was trying to run away, Janke tried to run him over with his car.
Tanner was able to flag down a driver on I-25 for help.
Janke was found at their home in Pueblo and arrested. He faces charges for attempted first degree murder, assault and attempted vehicular assault. He is being held at the Pueblo County Detention Facility on $750,000 bond.
