Traffic stop turns into domestic violence arrest

Colorado Springs police were called early Sunday morning to a domestic violence incident.

Around 1:45 Sunday morning someone witnessed a domestic violence assault in a vehicle near the intersection of North Chelton Road and East Bijou Street.

Colorado Springs Police found the vehicle matching the description and conducted a traffic stop at Chelton Road and Valley Hi Avenue. The suspect, initially noncompliant, was shocked with a Taser twice and taken into custody.

Police also say the suspect was driving under the influence. After a medical clearance, the suspect was taken to the Criminal Justice Center on charges of domestic violence assault, driving under the influence and obstruction.
